Copenhagen shopping mall shooting: three people killed
According to Danish police, three people were killed in a shooting at Field’s shopping center. Three more are in critical condition. The suspect has been detained.
A shooting at Field’s Mall in Copenhagen has left three people dead and several injured. Three of them are in critical condition. Such information was given by the representative of the Danish capital’s police at a press conference on Monday night, July 4.
One person has been detained. We are talking about a 22-year-old Dane known to the guards. According to the authorities he acted alone.
Shortly after the shooting a large number of police officers were dispatched to the scene. A helicopter circled over the building. Police urged residents to avoid the area of the incident and witnesses to contact law enforcement.
Field’s Mall is located on Amager Island. The neighborhood is located between the center of the capital and Kastrup International Airport.
Shots were fired at the mall in the early evening. After the first shots more than a hundred people left it, Danish media report citing eyewitnesses. Women with children in their arms escaped, rescuers carried people away on stretchers.
