Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal apologized to Italian Lorenzo Sonego for the incident during the third round match of Wimbledon.
“First of all, I have to say I was wrong. So I apologize for that. My mistake is this. No problem. I admit it. After that, everything that happened during the match, I don’t want to comment on, because that’s what I talked to him about in the locker room, and it stays there. All I can say is that I saw him in person. I apologize for that. My goal was never to bother him at all. Just to say one thing that bothered me. I think there’s some code between the players. Yes, we had some problems there. But that’s all,”Nadal was quoted as saying by Sports.yahoo.
Recall that with the score at 4-4 in the third set, Nadal called Sonya to the net and told him that he kept moaning after his shots for a very long time. After that conversation the chief referee asked the Italian to stop doing that.
